“A Personal Connection”

1 John 1:3 KJV
[3] That which we have seen and heard declare we unto you, that ye also may have fellowship with us: and truly our fellowship is with the Father, and with his Son Jesus Christ.

This is the third time in three verses that John declares he has seen Jesus. The apostle is as enthused about sharing Jesus as he was about seeing him. Every believer should have this same zeal, both to see and to share Jesus. He tells us why he wants to share Jesus in this verse. The reason is that Jesus gives believers a personal connection. He brings us together in fellowship with each other.

The word fellowship is mentioned two times in this verse. The first time it is mentioned, it has to do with a saintly fellowship. The second time it is mentioned, it has to do with a spiritual fellowship. When our relationship is right with the Father and with the Son, it will be right with the brethren. When we get out of fellowship on a spiritual realm, we will get out of fellowship on a saintly realm.

If an individual does not have a personal connection with the Father and the Son, then they will not have a personal connection with the saints. Salvation is what brings us into the fold, into the family and into the fellowship. What a wonderful connection with Him and through Him!
