1 John 5:1
[1] “Whosoever believeth that Jesus is the Christ is born of God: and every one that loveth him that begat loveth him also that is begotten of him.”
This verse teaches that our attitude toward God has everything to do with our attitude toward man. When believers have a right relationship with God, they have a right relationship with each other. They love each other, because they are loving him. Love toward God, and his children, is a mark of identification for every born-again believer.
I once knew an individual who was faithful to church, but always complained about the preacher, or other members within the church. It did not matter how good the church was doing, this person would always find something, or someone, to be unhappy about, and complain. It was clear that this person was miserable, and did a good job making everyone else miserable.
Then one day the unexpected happened. This individual went to the house of God, and the preacher preached a fiery sermon on hell. He fell under deep Holy Ghost conviction, saw himself as a sinner, and got gloriously saved. When he got saved an amazing thing happened. He stopped complaining about the preacher, the people, and all that was happening at the church. He got involved in all of the events and was kind to everyone. He not only stopped complaining about the church, but started doing the opposite of what he used to do. He began to brag on the pastor, and the church, as if it was the greatest church in the world. Friend, the church didn’t change. The pastor had not changed. The individual is the one who changed. He got born again, and his relationship with God changed his relationship with the brethren. He developed the right attitude without, because he had the right attitude within.
