1 John 5:7
[7] “For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one.”
What a blessing to know that there is unity in the Trinity. When Christ was baptized, all three individuals of the Godhead emerged. God, the Father, spoke out of heaven, God, the Son, came out of the water and God, the Spirit, descended as a dove.
Even though the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit are three separate individuals, they are still one, working together without any division. To try to explain this in complete detail would be impossible. A wise preacher once said that, “In order to understand, and explain, all that there is to know about the Trinity, you would have to be in it.” I would say this is a wise assessment. The best way to describe the unity of the Trinity is to look at ourselves. Man is a triune being, created in the image of God Almighty. Allow me to give you an example of what I’m talking about.
Let’s pretend you get a phone call, and receive a message that a loved one has just passed away. Three things begin to happen at that very moment. Your spirit begins to grieve, your mind begins preparing for the arrangements that need to be made, and then your body goes into motion, carrying out those plans. All three were working separately, yet they were together. One did not try to carry out the other’s responsibilities, but when it came time to get in the car and go, they all went together. All three were present at the funeral, and all can give a unified account of what happened, because they are one. This is the unity of the Trinity. When the body is right, man has a healthy relationship with God. When the spirit is right, man has a happy relationship with God. When the soul is right, man has a Holy relationship with God. The unity of the Trinity always leads us to victory.
