“Stay on The Path”

2 John 4 KJV

[4] “I rejoiced greatly that I found of thy children walking in truth, as we have received a commandment from the Father.”

John is excited to hear of these believers walking in truth. He reminds them that it has been commanded by the Father. He encourages them, by letting them know how they have encouraged him, by simply staying on this path. He is going to deal with the danger of unscriptural ways in this epistle, so he begins by acknowledging their dedication to staying with what is right.

We live in a day that is a lot like the day John was facing, when it comes to truth and error. There are a lot of false teachers, and false teaching in our present world today. Whenever we see others remaining faithful, and abiding by the Book, it lifts our spirits. I want to encourage you, dear reader, not to dip your colors in these last days. Do not deviate, or change course, in these final steps of the Christian race. Keep walking the path you have been on. If it was right back then, it is still right now.

When a brother, or sister, stops walking in truth, it is heartbreaking. We all know people, more than we care to remember, who have turned back. Make up your mind, if you have not already, that by the grace of God you will not be a casualty in the work of God. Say to yourself, “that if none go with me, still I’m going to follow Jesus all the days of my life”. Stay on this path, and keep walking in the truth of God’s word!  One day we will come to the end of the pathway, and our Savior will be standing at the end of it. Our desire should be to hear him say, “Well done, my child”, as we take those final steps. Remember, this is the greatest pathway we could ever take! How blessed we are to tread the pathway of God. Avoid all detours, and stay on the path!
