2 John 10 KJV
[10] “If there come any unto you, and bring not this doctrine, receive him not into your house, neither bid him God speed:”
There are several things to consider in our verse when it comes to false teachers. For starters, you don’t have to worry about finding cults, they will find you. In fact, the Bible says they will come to your residence. I think this verse should also shame anyone that does not believe in door to door visitation. How sad it is when the average Mormon, or Jehovah’s false witness, will spend 15-plus hours a week knocking on doors to promote their false doctrines, but the average Christian will not pass out a tract, or show up for a one hour visitation on Saturday morning. Even many of our so-called fundamental churches have canceled their door to door visitation program all together. It is no wonder that cults are on the rise.
John tells us when they come, do not let them in your house, and do not say good bye to them when they leave. Do not show hospitality to those that work against the Bible. For some this may seem a little over the top, but I remind you it is straight out of the Book. God takes it very offensively, and very seriously whenever someone denounces his Word, and tries to poison others with their devilish doctrine. We should have the same attitude toward them.
This does not mean we are to be belligerent and rude. The Bible does not instruct us to cause a scene, or create a controversy. It simply instructs us not to allow them in our house, and do not bid them a good day. These people are dangerous, and the slightest kindness may lead to a misstep with you, or someone in your home. Allowing them through the doorway of your home could be the first step to allowing them through the doorway of your heart, so don’t let them in at all. Deal with it before it goes any further.
