“God’s Goal for Your Life”

James 1:4

[4[ “But let patience have her perfect work, that ye may be perfect and entire, wanting nothing.”

God’s goal for our life is simple. He wants to make us complete in Him. He accomplishes this goal through His son, Jesus Christ. Christ works for us in Salvation. He then works in us by sanctification. Finally, He works through us in service. This is a process for the believer. A process that takes both time and patience.

Our verse teaches us to let patience have her perfect work. The word “perfect” indicates that the work has reached its end. It means it has been fully developed. I’m so thankful that the Lord doesn’t leave us where He found us. He saves us, keeps us, and wants to develop us.

We have to be careful that we do not hinder the Lord’s working in our life. God will not perform His work without our cooperation. We must yield our lives to Him. Daily and total surrender is the key to becoming a mature Christian lacking nothing.

In the end, this pleases both God and the believer. Like any good father, he knows what we need and what will make us happy. Think about your earthly father and how he was used to help mold you, and help make you, into the person you are today. He had a goal for your life, and because of your obedience to him you are a better person today. When you failed to listen to his instructions, it only brought you hardship.  The same is true with our Heavenly Father. A patient child who is yielded to his Father will grow in maturity. He will not lack, because his Heavenly Father knows best. Surrender your life to God today, and allow him to accomplish His goal for your life.
