[7] “Do not they blaspheme that worthy name by the which ye are called?”
In the early days of the church, the powerful Sadducees were the ones who were persecuting them. They dragged Christians into court and said false and ungodly things about them and the Lord Jesus. They were blaspheming the name of the Lord Jesus. These religious leaders were using their powerful influence and rich standing to push their own agenda.
Religion has always hated Christianity and elevated man. Christianity reveals man for who he is and allows him to see God as the Supreme Authority. That is why religion despises Christ and loves man. Religion tells man how good he is and how he can better himself by his own self-sufficiency. Religion never does anything for the poor and blasphemes the worthy name of Christ.
What happened back then is still taking place in our world today. We all know the world is a wicked place, but in reality, the world is also a religious place. Religion abounds on all continents and in every culture. No matter where you travel, you will find that man cannot help but worship someone or something. The more religious this world gets, the more wicked it becomes. The more religious it becomes, the more it hates Christianity.
Dear reader, now is the time to rise up and shine. These are the days when our light can burn the brightest! The world can look at us and take note that there is a difference between true salvation and those who blaspheme the worthy Name by which we are called. Take the time to share your faith, but also take the time to show your faith by treating others with love and compassion. Let the world see the love of Christ in you!
