Jude 4 KJV
[4] “For there are certain men crept in unawares, who were before of old ordained to this condemnation, ungodly men, turning the grace of our God into lasciviousness, and denying the only Lord God, and our Lord Jesus Christ.”
The phrase “crept in unawares” means “to slip in secretly” or “to get in by the side.” These men know how to slide in under the radar. They come in the side door of the church lurking around to find someone weak in the faith. Jude calls these men out in this verse by highlighting their deception, defilement, deeds, and denial.
These creepy old men of apostasy have been around for a long time. Their goal is to counterfeit, change, and corrupt what is holy. They do this by changing the music, the message, the methods, and the mindset of the church. Apostates don’t like words and phrases such as whosoever, fundamentalism, old-fashioned, and King James only, because they define our doctrines, beliefs, convictions, and principles.
These creepy old men of apostasy launch attacks on men of God who, in the past, have won souls, built churches, and witnessed great revivals. Apostates are mockers of old-time religion and those who refuse to abandon the truth. They will say or do anything to gain a crowd.
We cannot afford to be silent in these days. We must not allow the mockers of fundamentalism to silence our mission. Remember, we are the ones who have the truth, and the truth must be upheld. Apostates may flourish, but eventually, they will all fail because there is no substance to their message. Old-time religion has always been under attack by these men, but they come and go while it still remains! After being saved for thirty-five years, I’m still happy to say that I know the truth, and that I grew up in the “Old-time way!”
