Jude 12 KJV
[12] “These are spots in your feasts of charity, when they feast with you, feeding themselves without fear: clouds they are without water, carried about of winds; trees whose fruit withereth, without fruit, twice dead, plucked up by the roots;”
We have all heard the phrase, “Some people have no shame”. This statement is true about apostates. They do not care who they deceive, or who gets hurt, or whose soul they damn to Hell. They will pretend to be a believer and a friend to other believers. Jude says that these people are spots in our feasts of charity. In other words, they may appear to be a child of God, but they are not.
Apostates do not add to the church, but they deceive and destroy. They will feed themselves without fear and have no shame in helping themselves. These people are takers in the work of God and know nothing about the truth. They teach and encourage people to be self-centered. Christianity teaches believers to focus on Christ, then on other believers and a lost world. It is sad how much emphasis the world places on self-image and self-promotion today. I am not saying that everyone who is guilty of self-promotion is an apostate, but apostasy has affected our society and even the atmosphere in our churches.
Apostates are full of empty promises. They cannot benefit or give anything to other believers in any way. They are clouds without water, trees without fruit, twice dead and plucked up by the roots! These people take and have nothing to give in return. We are not to be swayed by their personalities or their popularity. In the end, they will always leave another believer hurting and lacking. Remember, these people have no shame!
