Jude 18 KJV
[18] “how that they told you there should be mockers in the last time, who should walk after their own ungodly lusts.”
Jude reminds us that the apostles predicted that mockers would come in the last days. They were right then, and they are still right today. This world enjoys mocking the things of God. They mock Him through their music and movies, spewing vile and profane words. They laugh at sin, relish in their evil deeds, and curse the name of God because they are ungodly.
Thank God for the men who warned us about these ungodly men walking after their own lusts. Men of God who told the truth are what salvaged the hearts and homes of people sitting in churches across this country! They told us about the penalty of sin and the consequences of not taking heed to the preaching of the Word of God.
Today it is hard to find a place where the preacher loves the Lord enough to tell people the truth. Many so-called preachers have become lovers of their own selves. They are better politicians than they are preachers. We have men who work the crowd and entertain the audience with a short sermon of exhortation. We need men of God who will stand with a heavy burden weighing on their souls and preach with a passion burning deep within their hearts.
God help us to listen to the men who have told us right all these years. We must stay the course and keep preaching the old-time way. God still has men who are preaching the Bible and telling it right. Don’t get crossed up with a man of God or leave a church service mad because the preacher laid it out straight and simple. If we are guilty, we must humble ourselves and repent of our sins. God will show us mercy, and we will love the man who told us the truth.
Think about those who have despised the men of God who told it right. Their lives never got better when they walked away from the truth. I want to challenge you to reflect on some of the men of God that He used to preach to your soul. Where would you be if it had not been for those preachers caring enough to tell you what was right? God used them in a special way to help you along life’s journey.
