Jude 20 KJV
[20] “But ye, beloved, building up yourselves on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Ghost,”
Here, we have a wonderful admonishment for the beloved. Jude is encouraging the brethren to build themselves up. Now, he is not talking about building up our ego or self-image but our most holy faith by praying in the Holy Ghost. There is no substitute for Spirit-filled praying. Just like we need Spirit-filled singing and preaching, we need men and women who will pray in the Holy Ghost.
What does it mean to pray in the Holy Ghost? It means we pray according to God’s will. The Spirit of God helps us to pray the proper prayers. Spiritual men and women know how to pray because they live a surrendered life praying for the things that please Him, not them. They have a desire to see God’s will done on earth. They do not try to manipulate God into doing something they desire. Too much of our praying can become about us rather than Him.
When we allow the Spirit to guide us in our praying, it strengthens our faith in God. We learn to pray with confidence and assurance. May God give us more saints who will learn to pray in the Holy Ghost. Dear reader, evaluate your prayer life. Look at your prayer list and ask yourself, “Are these the prayers that the Spirit has led me to pray?”
Begin your prayer time early in the morning. Do not wait until midday or evening. Give God the first part of your day in prayer. Keep your prayer life simple and speak to God sincerely. Do not let your prayer life become mechanical. Keep it fresh by pouring your heart out to God. Keep your secret time a secret from others. Do not share much about your prayer life, but let it be holy and personal between you and your Father. Guard your prayer life, and do not allow Satan to use distractions and defeat to keep you out of the prayer closet. The greatest thing anyone can ever do for someone is to pray for them. Holy Ghost praying will send revival to our land once again. Holy Ghost praying will turn the tide of wickedness in our country and awaken the sleepy saints in our churches. We must determine to keep on praying and believing in these last days.
