“A Lively Hope”

1 Peter 1:3 KJV

[3] “Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, which according to his abundant mercy hath begotten us again unto a lively hope by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead,”

The word translated as “blessed” comes from the Greek word that gives us our English word “eulogy.” It means to praise something or someone. Here, God is being praised for our salvation and redemption. What a joy to know that salvation is provided and is ours for the keeping! There is no greater blessing than to know you are redeemed. Dear reader, this is a lively hope. It is a hope that keeps giving and continues to bless.

Our salvation is secure in the Lord Jesus Christ! His death on the cross purchased our salvation, and His resurrection proves that He is able to keep us throughout eternity. Jesus is still the answer to a lost world without hope. We must spread the Gospel news and tell them of His mercy and great love. Think about the blessings we have experienced through coming to know Christ as our personal savior.

We have the blessing of the Spirit that lives inside of us. I’m so glad that we are not left alone after salvation. The Spirit of God makes His abode in our hearts. He lives and dwells on the inside to guide His children through this walk of life.

Think about the blessing of the Scriptures. He gives us His Word to help nourish and strengthen our walk with Him. The Spirit and the Scriptures coincide to help us grow and make the right choices in life. They comfort us through our trials and difficulties in life. We are blessed because the Spirit is alive in us, and the Scriptures come alive as we read and memorize them.

Finally, think about the blessing of the saints. When we become His children, we are placed in the family of God immediately. He has left us the church while we are here in this world. The Spirit is within us, the Scriptures are before us, and the saints are around us. It is another one of His blessings to allow us to be part of the church. What a blessing to have brothers and sisters in Christ. I don’t know what I would do without my church. Our wonderful Father has provided these spiritual blessings through Christ Jesus. Take the time to count some of these blessings today!
