“The Power of God”

1 Peter 1:5 KJV

[5] “who are kept by the power of God through faith unto salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.”

I’m so thankful for God’s saving power but also His keeping power. It is such a blessing to know that we have an eternal salvation because our God is eternal. We will live for eternity because He will live for eternity. We rest in the knowledge that He is keeping us by His power and not our own.

This truth is why we know that works do not save us or keep us saved. I feel sorry for those who believe salvation is by faith, but they can only keep it by good works. We cannot save ourselves or keep ourselves saved. It is God that does the saving, and it is God that does the keeping. Honestly, we have all sinned enough after salvation to lose it. If left up to us, we would not last twenty-four hours, but the good news is that it is not up to us.

When we read of God’s mighty power throughout the Scriptures, it never fails, and there is an abundance to keep every one of His children. The power that God has to keep us saved is the power of His Word! The same power that spoke the world and universe into existence is the same power that is keeping us. All we have to do is believe in His Word and rest in His power. Our salvation will never fail because God’s Word will never fail.

I encourage you to read His Word every day because the power of His Word secures our hearts and removes all fears. Those who read His Word live more settled and assured lives because the power of God is revealed to them daily. I’ve seen many of God’s children struggle with their salvation because they failed to read and trust the power of His Word. If you have trusted Christ as your Savior, trust His Word, and do not struggle with the promise of eternity. Your salvation is not up to you but to the One that has never failed. His power was enough to save you, and it is enough to keep you. One day, God will reveal His church to this world as a bride adorned for her husband. They will see the power of God on display through His bride that He has kept throughout the ages.
