1 Peter 1:25 KJV
[25] “But the word of the Lord endureth for ever. And this is the word which by the gospel is preached unto you.”
I want us to think about the blessing of owning a Bible. Many people worldwide have never seen a Bible and have no knowledge of the great truths we read about every day. When I look at my Bible, I consider it a great privilege that God has allowed me to own one. I could have been born in a jungle or communist country where it was forbidden. What would it be like to spend your whole life walking in darkness, searching for the light of truth? We are blessed because we have the gospel preached to our souls, and we have the Bible. That alone should encourage us to read our Bible daily.
When I look at my Bible, I think about the blood of the martyrs and those who died so I would have the freedom to obtain a copy of my own. Those who correct it, make light of it, or neglect it should be ashamed. There was too much bloodshed for us not to read it and put it into practice. They gave their lives so we could have a translation of the Bible.
When I look at my Bible, I think not only of those who have never seen one or those who have given their lives so I could have one but also of the miracle that God preserved it for my generation. It is a blessing that the Bible has endured for our generation and will endure for generations to come.
If the Devil could have destroyed the Word of God, he would have done it from the beginning. We have the promise that the Word of God will endure forever. No matter how wicked or dark this world may become, God’s Word will stand the test of time. What a blessing to know that when we pass off the scene, future generations will have hope because they will still have the Bible.
Man has tried to destroy it for centuries. They have banned it from schools, courthouses, communities, and even countries, but no matter how hard they try to destroy it, the Word of God endures. Somehow, it divinely finds its way behind the iron curtain of communism. It defeats the evil indoctrination of humanism. The Word of God always prevails over the evils of this world. The light of His Word finds itself in the most remote places and saves the lost. I encourage you to read your Bible daily and share a verse with a friend or neighbor. Make the Scriptures a topic of your conversation with those you come in contact with. Shine the light of His Word in a dark world.
