“God Is So Good”

1 Peter 2:3 KJV

[3] “if so be ye have tasted that the Lord is gracious.”

What a joy it is to be able to say that we have tasted the goodness of God! We have the assurance that the Lord is merciful and kind to each of His children. He blesses us every day with His promises and His presence. We can look around and thank Him for the material and physical blessings of life. However, some blessings far exceed what we can see.

Think about Christians who have lived their lives in poor health, yet they were happier than those who had no health issues. Think about those joyful saints who barely had enough to get by, struggling from week to week, but were never saddened by their poverty. How could they be so joyful and satisfied when others, having had more in life, never found the joy in serving Him? Why is it that some believers never look up and count their blessings? They are always complaining about life and grumbling about the circumstances they are unhappy with.

How can one believer serving Jesus always be on the downside of life and another serving Him always be on the upward side of life? Dear reader, it has nothing to do with the circumstances surrounding them but everything to do with the joy within them! This inward joy comes from tasting His amazing grace.

We have all witnessed the overwhelming joy a new convert experiences when they first get saved. We have seen the peace and excitement in their lives when they first come to know Christ. If you are saved, then you can relate to this experience yourself. Let me remind you that this joy is not reserved only for the first time someone comes to know Him. We can have this kind of spirit all the days of our lives. New converts experience this joy because they have tasted the grace of God in salvation. That is why they are such a blessing to be around.

The Lord intends for us to taste His grace every day. He doesn’t want us to ever lose the joy of knowing Him. If you have tasted His goodness, then never stop tasting it! Those Christians mentioned earlier learned the secret of coming before His throne every day and tasting His goodness in personal devotion. That is why they seldom complained or grumbled. He satisfied their souls in the morning hours, and He gave them the joy they needed for their daily journey. What about you today? Have you tasted His goodness? Have you been in His presence today? Oh, taste and see that the Lord is good!
