James 2:21 KJV
[21] “Was not Abraham our father justified by works, when he had offered Isaac his son upon the altar?”
When Abraham offered up his son Isaac on the altar, it revealed his faith in God. The offering of Isaac also revealed Abraham’s worship, willingness, and witness. Saying goodbye to his father was one thing but saying goodbye to his son was another. We see several surrenders in the life of Abraham, all of them leading up to this great quest. The offering of Isaac was the ultimate and complete surrender of this great patriarch.
The question for us today is, “Have we placed our Isaac on the altar?” Have we given to God the thing that is most precious to us? Have we given our everything to God? Have we fully surrendered our life to Him and for Him? For Abraham to give his son, he had to be willing to give of himself. The problem in the lives of many saints today is that they are not willing to place themselves on the altar of sacrifice and surrender.
God blessed Abraham for his faith, and He will do the same for you and me. If we are willing to keep nothing and give Him everything without hesitation or delay, then He will open the windows of Heaven and bless us. The reality is that Isaac never really belonged to Abraham anyway. The Lord had given Isaac to him, and He was able to take him from him.
A surrendered saint understands that he has nothing, can do nothing, and can obtain nothing apart from the hand of God. Jesus taught us that we lose our life when we try to find it, and we find it by losing it in Him. Surrender your will to God, and place the most precious treasures you have in this world on the altar. God will bless and honor your faith!
