“The Spiritual Wife”

1 Peter 3:2 KJV

[2] “while they behold your chaste conversation coupled with fear.”

Sometimes, men are not the best at noticing the little things that their wives do. Observation is not high on the list of a working man, and he is often guilty of not paying attention to details. Every woman who loves her husband desires for him to notice her. She wants him to pay attention to the little things that matter to her.

I think this is a worthy desire of a wife, and as men, we should be more observant of our wives. We should notice the things that matter to them. I believe a husband has to learn this, and if he loves his wife, he will work on it as they go through life together. It takes patience on the part of a wife, and a little prodding along the way does not hurt anything.

The Bible teaches that if a woman wants to get her husband’s attention, she will achieve it through a submissive spirit. Spirituality will get a man to notice you more than anything else you could ever do. You may wonder how this could be true, but the answer is in our verse. Here is a woman married to a man who is lost. She loves him and wants his attention in the one area he is least interested in. She wants him to see her spiritual side so he will realize his need for spirituality. Now, this may seem like a big task for this lady.

Our verse says that if she lives a submissive life before him, he will behold her chaste conversation. In other words, he will notice her submissive behavior. Perfume, a new dress, or a new hairstyle may not always get his attention, but living a submissive, spirit-filled life in front of him will always turn his head. He will notice that you are a spiritual woman, even if he does not say anything.

Now, the only way a woman can submit to her husband, especially if he is lost, is to be submitted to Christ first. She must be filled with the Holy Spirit. She must pray daily realizing she cannot do it herself, and ask the Lord to do this through her. The word “fear” mentioned in our verse speaks about a reverential fear that she portrays in her dedication to God. She does not fear her husband as you can see in verse six of this chapter, but she does display reverence to God before him. Her husband notices the most precious thing about his wife is her spiritual walk with God. It is seen in how she treats him and how she honors God. Are you a submissive wife? Are you a spiritual woman?
